Well, sort of. This week we’re celebrating the end of soccer season. That’s not to say we don’t love soccer, but... Both Hubby and the Falcon play. Furthermore, Hubby coaches the Falcon’s team, so they try to never miss a game or practice. This means that every. Saturday. in. soccer. season. is taken for at least part of the day. Spring and Fall. It really limits what we can do on weekends--like do an overnight camp out. Combine that with the volunteering that we do for the childrens’ programs at church and normal house hold chores and we get weekends that are more busy than the weekdays. It will be nice to have a “free day” for a couple months.
Actually, I’ve been analyzing the situation and come to the conclusion that I have not over scheduled the Falcon as I feared I had done at the start of the school year. I do think I’ve over scheduled the family. Its not that number of activities that the Falcon is signed up for, but rather that either Hubby or myself is also heavily involved in each one. He coaches soccer and teaches RE at church. I coach Lego League, volunteer at the school, and volunteer in the church nursery. Even the dog has classes. Right now, Didi gets dragged from place to place, but someday soon he will also have his own set of activities.
Yet, there is nothing that I want to drop. I enjoy my time volunteering as does Hubby. Furthermore, I’m not sure there are parents ready to step up if we step back. I feel like if I want the programs then I have to volunteer. So while it a relief to feel that I have not over scheduled my eldest, I know that will need some strategy to make it through these next couple years as both boys grow and explore various activities.
Anyone know how to bend time?
No? Well, please join me in a quiet glass of wine as I celebrate the lull between the end of soccer and the official start of the Holidays. Ignore the laundry.
Cheers!
