Still busy, busy and not on knitting and spinning. I think we may have the sweetest puppy ever, but I will admit that I have not even attempted to bring my spinning wheel out since he’s been here. The drive is giant rubber band that looks tempting to chew even to me. I have a spare, but its still seemed a bit risky. I’ve not been doing much knitting either though strangely I have finished several things.
The first is the Pi Shawl (picture someday soon). I finished knitting this quite awhile ago, but I don’t consider a project a true FO until its been blocked. When the time came to block it, I dodged and decided to first re-block my cherry blossom shawl since I hadn’t done a good job of that the first time. Hubby and I have a water bed, so I usually use Didi’s bed for blocking. Several times, I’ve done this and then he’s done a surprise nap or I’ve forgotten about it at bed time. So, this time I decided to block on the master bedroom floor and keep the door shut until it dried.
The best place for this was beyond the foot of the bed and in front of the dresser--where one would pass to go to the master bathroom. I pinned in out with a thousand little t-pins sticking straight out of the carpet. I closed the door and all was well. Until.... I fell asleep putting Didi to sleep in his bed that night as happens sometimes. Hubby fell asleep on the couch as also happens sometimes. About 1am, he woke up and headed for the master bath to take out his contacts....
Yes, I nearly killed my husband by blocking my knitting. He was nice about it even claiming that now that he knew it was there it could remain until morning. I didn’t take him at his word. Having survived maiming once, I felt it was too risky to trust that he would remember the danger first thing in the morning.
Its taken me several weeks to get up the nerve to block something else. I waited until the Falcon started school and then I waited some more for a day when I was pretty sure I’d have my wits about me enough to block in a reasonable place and with an “exit strategy” in case someone wanted to walk somewhere or sleep in their bed.
Here’s what I have to show for it so far---Not a Drop Scarf (ravelry link) from my handspun corridale.
